This weeks listener’s question is from Padraig

Hi I’m looking for recommendations for an 18th Birthday day father and son trip for a weekend, long weekend in UK or Europe between Feb to June.
I am a listener to your novel traveller slot on Newstalk.
Looking forward to your recommendations. Thank you Padraig

Choosing a destination depends on Padraig’s son’s interests and how the the two like to spend time together. If it is sport that bonds them either as participants or watching sports then there are several options.

Contact a travel agent such as Keith Prowse or Celtic Horizon to see what football matches are available? If they want to go all out a Grand Prix is an unforgettable experience.

Perhaps his son is interested in science or film, if this is the case then London makes a great destination and with sterling low at the moment it makes the UK cheaper to visit. This offer going out in April over a weekend with Click and Go is only €177 for two nights flight and hotel with aer lingus

Around Ireland there are plenty of options with kayaking and hill walking – Delphi Adventure Centre in Mayo is beautiful year round. delphi resort

For an adrenaline rush pop over to Wales and lovely Snowdonia national park and home to Zipworld and two of the best zipline rides in Europe, see website for more information It’s easy to get the ferry to North Wales. I’ve travelled with Stena Line and the boat trip is an adventure in itself. It also means Padraid won’t have to hire a car stena line
