 Barberstown Castle, Kildare

I had the pleasure of checking Barberstown Castle out this summer in County Kildare with my friend Jackie and her gorgeous pooch Coco Chanel who stole the show. She had such a welcome at reception and a lovely time walking in the gardens.

Formerly the home of Eric Clapton, Barberstown Castle has been welcoming guests for over 700 years. Visitors to the castle will experience a very relaxing and welcoming experience while enjoying great food, excellent wines, open log fires and exceptional personal service.
This historic 13th-century Irish castle is the ideal base from which to explore Ireland’s Ancient East only 25 minutes from Dublin Airport and Dublin City Centre.

While staying at the hotel you are welcome to walk your pets around the beautiful 18 acres of grounds and gardens of the hotel. Dogs are welcome to stay in the designated Paw-Friendly rooms. Dogs can dine and join their Pawrents in the Garden Bar Conservatory and Patio areas. A €25 supplement fee will be charged to your room upon check in.
Essential day trips include a visit to the Irish National Stud, Newbridge Silverware or Kildare Village luxury shopping outlet. Enjoy a short drive to Glendalough & Powerscourt Gardens or the site of Newgrange World heritage site.

Bushmills Inn, Co. Antrim

I’m a big fan of the causeway coastline that sweeps across some of the best scenery in the north. Bushmills Inn is in a prime location, just a stone’s throw away from famous attractions like the Giant’s Causeway and Mussenden Demesne, as well as many of the Game of Thrones film locations. Close to fabulous golden beaches and forests, making it the ideal base for your dog-friendly adventures. Bushmills Inn is close to several pawprint-rated National Trust properties and other dog-friendly attractions, beaches and forest walks. The reception team can provide you with a list of places to explore.
Steeped in history the building was originally a coaching inn in the 1600s and now a four star boutique hotel with lots of charming nooks and crannies with turf fires, a library with a secret room and a flag room with flags from all around the world. You can expect a drop of Bushmills in the fabulous sauces that accompany the streaks in the restaurant – the food is excellent.
