Newstalk Searches for the Best Seaweed Baths in Ireland – starting at Lusty Beg Island

This week I made it my mission to find the best seaweed bath on the Island of Ireland and took a wee trip across the border to Lusty Beg Island in Fermanagh. A short drive from Enniskillen brought my pal Catherine and I to this hidden hideaway that will take the weary traveller off to another world – firstly in a small two car ferry!

We made a call when we arrived at the car park and the ferry collected us. Once we stepped on the island we were smothered in peace and calmness as we checked into our lakeside lodge. The self catering chalets offer an excellent standard with decking outside and superb views. Waking up to a breathtaking view is just one of the bonuses that you will enjoy on your stay.

Another is the great bar with cosy booths and wonderful cocktails – I enjoyed my first Mulberry Sloe Gin and there is live entertainment most nights. Lusty Beg is a favourite venue for weddings but I see it as a wonderful place to enjoy a hen party or girlie weekend or get together. It’s also great for families with lots of activities including kayaking, clay pigeon shooting and archery. The Fairy Trail is an hour long walk around the island’s 75 acres and chance to enjoy all the natural beauty.

The Island Spa at Lusty Beg offers the ultimate retreat. Inspiration has been taken from the surrounding natural beauty and mainly organic and wholesome products are used to bring harmony to your spa experience. And, of course, all is enjoyed from an unparalleled location.

The benefits of seaweed for both health and beauty is on offer at the spa.  The seaweed at The Island Spa is hand harvested off the coast of Ireland. As nature’s most powerful anti-oxidant from the marine world, seaweed fights against harmful environmental aggressors and slows down the signs of aging. The seaweed based treatments at Lusty Beg’s Island Spa can deeply detoxify, hydrate and nourish the skin, hair and body. We went for the Rub-a-tub-tub massage and baths for £150 including a bottle of Prosecco and seaweed bath with facial. Kerry our therapist was wonderfully attentive and told us about the benefits our sin would enjoy from the treatment. Those suffering with arthritis and other conditions will get comfort from the experience.

The Island Spa boasts spa gardens, an outdoor hot tub, sauna and relaxation room. Guests can choose from a range of treatments including facials, massages, baths, scrubs, manicures and pedicures.

Weekend at Lusty Beg Island from – £179 Per person sharing, two nights bed and breakfast and seaweed bath.

Midweek Breaks from £99.00 for two people bed and breakfast.
