Walking Adventures to Europe with TD Active Holidays

Walking Holidays have become more popular over the last couple of years as many of us have rediscovered the beauty of our countryside and taken to the hills. If the thought of expanding your horizons appeals then I suggest you take a look at some of these fantastic Walking trips around Europe with TD Active Holidays. I was down in Cork recently on the RTE Today Show chatting with Maura and Daithi about the fabulous guided tours that will be going out this summer.

Experience the most iconic pilgrim route in the world with us on a guided walking holiday on the Camino de Santiago. Whether you just want a healthy challenge, to walk it for a personal journey, a new social experience or to simply get a flavour of the famous pilgrimage; you’ll uncover the best Camino pathways with us.

The Portuguese Coastal Way

Explore the less well-known side of the Camino de Santiago with us on this guided walking holiday along the Portuguese Coastal Way. This section of the Camino follows the Atlantic Coast from the elegant seaside town of Baiona, located in the northwest of Spain, towards the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Santiago de Compostela. We’ll discover the wild Atlantic beauty and sandy beaches of Galicia as we spend 3 days walking along the coastline before heading inland for a 3-day trek through woodlands and small villages, ending in the famous Santiago de Compostela.

This 7-night holiday is perfect for those looking to capture the essence of the Camino: an invigorating walk, beautiful Spanish scenery and a chance to take part in this historic journey.

Footsteps of the Camino de Santiago Walking Holiday

Embark on a walking holiday with us to sunny Spain! This 7-night guided tour will allow us to get a taste of all the Camino de Santiago has to offer while enjoying the food, wine and culture along the famous route.

Our journey will begin in Bilbao and take us west to the historic Santiago de Compostela. This trip includes an exterior visit to the Guggenheim museum, a tour of a local winery, a stroll through the beautiful old town of León and a half day guided tour of Santiago de Compostela. As we walk through this stunning area of Spain, we’ll soak up the beauty of the verdant Galician countryside and be amazed by the magnificent views from the tiny mountain village of Cebreiro, 1300 metres above sea level.

We’ll complete our holiday by leaving a stone at the symbolic Cruz de Fierro (The Iron Cross) and like the pilgrims before us, leave all our burdens behind. This trip is ideal for moderately experienced walkers, with an average walking distance around 10km per day on mostly flat, gravel terrain.
